Each of our affiliated companies is a known quantity on the market. Depending on the specific assignment, the interaction between them is individually configured for our customers. This creates ideal value creation chains for tailor-made circular solutions that adhere to a simple principle: save CO2, preserve raw materials.
Overview of our value creation cycle
Everything from a single source – our processes and our four areas of business adopt a holistic approach to ensure maximum quality at every point.
Our milestones – step by step to success

2003 – Founding of energenta GmbH. To date, 10 additional companies have been founded or acquired.

2004 – Founding of energenta Ersatzbrennstoffe GmbH – the specialist in customized alternative fuels and the implementation of recycling loops for all common plastics from industrial production (the shares in energenta Ersatzbrennstoffe GmbH were sold at the end of 2024).

2007 – Integration of emrec GmbH (joint venture: 33% stake) into the energenta Group – specializing in the conversion of unused production residues from the plastics and paper processing industries into high-quality, clean substitute fuels and the return of raw materials to national and international recycling cycles.

2010/11 – Construction and relocation to the new facility in Ochtrup (the facility was sold at the end of 2024, and following the relocation of energenta recycling solutions GmbH, it was fully transferred to the new owner at the end of 2025).

2011 – Founding of energenta polymers SRL (Romania). Distribution of ground materials, regranulates, virgin EPS, and raw glass.

2014 – Founding of energenta recycling solutions GmbH – the specialist in the processing of plastics from the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment, as well as regrind blends from the post-industrial and post-consumer sectors.
Construction of the new emrec GmbH facility in Dortmund (joint venture: 33% stake)

2020 – Acquisition of Sysplast GmbH, a manufacturer of high-quality regranulates, styrene-based regranulates, and compounds that replace virgin material, thereby conserving resources, reducing costs, and lowering CO2 emissions. In 2021, Sysplast was awarded the 1st Bavarian Resource Efficiency Prize.

2022 – Acquisition of KVG GmbH. A manufacturer of high-quality PE and PP regranulates made from single-type, clean production residues, which are used to replace virgin material in production or as additives in compounding.
Experience as a competitive edge
The experience our affiliated companies gathered on the market for circular plastics systems benefits not only our customers and the environment: we are also happy to share it when it comes to defining quality criteria and processes that help set global standards. After all, this is a key prerequisite for driving development forward. For instance, our Group company Sysplast – which at the time was still the recycling centre of Grundig AG – developed criteria for the disposal of used electrical and electronic appliances as early as the mid-1970s that are still valid today. We are continuing along this path.
